【摘要】:Thestandardisconfinedtomillingmachinearbors.Thereasonforconfiningthisstandardtothisspecifiedmillingmachineaccessoryisthatthroughmanyyearsofdevelopmentandgeneralusage,therealreadyexistsgoodagreementonthestructureanddimensionsofmillingmachinearborsbetweencompetentmanufacturersofsuchequipmenthereintheUnitedStatesandabroad.Thisagreementismuchbetterthanformanyothermillingmachineaccessoriesandequipment.Alreadyconsiderableinterchangeabilityexistsbetweentheproductsofvarioussuppliersofmillingmachinearbors.Thestandardtriestoavoidbeingtoospecificinnonessentialdetailstoavoidunduehardshiponthemanufacturer.Thechoiceofmaterial,heattreatment,surfacefinishanydeviationsfromnonessentialdimensionsislefttothediscretionofthemanufactureraslongasitiscompatiblewiththeexpectedfunctionalrequirementsofthearborassembly.Themanyoverlappingandintermediatesizesofthevariouscomponentsofanarborassemblyareminimizedforthesakeofeconomy.Somesizesofarborsandcomponentsstilllistedbysomemanufacturershavebeenomittedwiththeknowledgethatsomeotherlistedsizeswoulddotherequiredoperationswithoutunduehardship.
